Every Friday and on specific feast days, students participate in the celebration of Holy Mass. The Mass is the ancient prayer of Christians and includes a sharing of Bible passages and the offering of the Jesus’ gift of his Body to the Father. The students are invited to serve in the roles of ushers, readers, altar servers and cantors. There are several opportunities for children to learn and contribute their musical gifts for the praise and worship of God. Each week, the students, staff and parents are engaged by thoughtful preaching and encouraged to live a reflective life in Jesus Christ. They learn about the Saints and other holy men and women who lived heroic virtuous lives. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to participate at Mass and in Eucharistic Adoration.
Each Friday after the School Mass, children have time throughout the day to visit the chapel with their classes and to pray in front of the Blessed Sacrament. This experience helps the student in their spiritual formation as they gain confidence in their own prayer life and personal relationship with the Lord. Teachers help students prepare for this time of personal prayer by providing reflections and encouraging them to maintain a prayer journal.
Each Friday afternoon at 2:30PM, students and parents are invited to attend Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. This is a great way to end the school week.
Each day, students participate in the saying of a decade of the Holy Rosary for specific intentions. This is a great time for students to learn about and participate in prayer for each other and for specific causes. After each mass that students attend, the Principal will lead the student body through their daily decade of the rosary. Students are encouraged to lift up private intentions during that time.
With the availability of monthly confession, students encounter the mercy of God and his loving forgiveness. The younger students learn how to examine their conscience, and they become accustomed to using the Sacrament of Confession and discovering it is an important part of a healthy spiritual life. Older students learn how to establish goals in the pursuit of a virtuous life. In the Sacrament of Confession children feel heard, understood and encouraged to grow in God’s merciful love.
