Mrs. Fiala is from Owego, NY a small town in upstate New York. She received her Bachelor's Degree from State University of New York (SUNY) at  Oneonta, and her Master's Degree from SUNY Cortland. She lived in Houston, Texas for 15 years before moving here to North Carolina. She has taught in both Catholic and public schools for about 16 years, but prefers Catholic Schools. Teaching now at St. Catherine's for 7 years where her son graduated in 2017. She has taught Kindergarten, First Grade and Middle School, but says "my favorite is Fourth Grade at St. Catherine's!"

"I taught at the small Catholic School where my mom, siblings and I went and I was fortunate to do part of my student teaching in England.  In my spare time I enjoy traveling, especially to the beach where I can sit and read all day! My husband and I have been married for almost 21 years. My son is graduating from high school in 2021 and I can't believe it!"
