Mask optional as of March 2, 2022
February 9, 2022
Dear St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School Families,
Father Bill John and I would like to express our sincere appreciation for the support and faith that parents have shown over the past two years as we have navigated this difficult pandemic. The faculty, staff, and administration, along with parents and students, have been able to work together to allow our students the opportunity for an excellent education with in-class instruction, while continuing to focus on their spiritual, social, and emotional needs.
After prayerful consideration and having mask optional at all parish masses for over eight months, St. Catherine of Siena School is moving toward “mask optional” for students and staff. Father Bill John and I have made the decision to transition to “mask optional” starting on, Wednesday, March 2, the first day of Lent. This option will allow parents to choose whether their child(ren) will wear a mask or not.
Guidelines outlining protocols will still comply with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. The Pastor and Principal may at any time require masking if circumstances drastically change.
If you do not want your child to wear a mask at school, please know quarantine may be necessary. Please refer to the North Carolina Public Health Toolkit (K-12) for protocols.
Parents, please talk with your children about what your decision and expectations are about them wearing or not wearing a mask and ask that they respect others. Teachers will not be asked to enforce parents’ pro-or anti-mask decisions in the classroom.
Thank you for you continued support for our Catholic School. Please continue to pray for our school, as Father Bill John and I will keep all our families in our prayers.
Sincerely in Christ,
Mrs. Catherine Schwarz
Principal
